What you’ll learn
A beginner course, taught in person at our East Tamaki academy.
Every skin treatment starts in the same place: understanding the skin in front of you. This course gives you that foundation, and the facial skills to start treating clients straight away.
It suits anyone new to skin, and therapists wanting to strengthen their skin knowledge. You'll learn the layers of the skin and what each one does, how to identify skin types and conditions, and the role UV plays in skin health. You'll learn to carry out a thorough skin analysis through consultation and observation, and to understand skincare products and active ingredients: what they do and who they suit. From there you'll learn the full facial routine, including steaming, exfoliation and extractions.
We also cover the consultation and prescribing skills that turn a one-off facial into a treatment plan: building a tailored in-clinic and homecare plan, retailing homecare, and pricing your treatments profitably.
After a live demonstration, you'll practise on live models with a range of skin types and concerns. By the end you'll be able to analyse a client's skin, perform a professional facial and recommend the right homecare. No prior experience required, and completing it meets the entry requirement for our intermediate skin courses.

A year of tutor support
Technique and product troubleshooting for twelve months after you certify, plus help with your NZ Health Protection licence.
Paying for your course
Pay in full, or spread it over four or six weeks with invoices sent to you each week. Afterpay is also accepted.
A 20% deposit holds your dates with an expert educator. The balance is then split across your chosen plan. Need longer than six weeks? Ask us and we will try to accommodate you.
