What you’ll learn
A beginner course, taught in person at our East Tamaki academy.
“By the end you'll be able to perform powder, nano and combo brows on paying clients. The course builds in sequence, so nothing is assumed. No prior experience required.”
The complete brow artist can offer every client the brow that suits them: soft powder shading, fine hair-like nano strokes, or a combination of both. This course teaches all three, so you never have to turn a brow client away.
You'll start with the essentials every cosmetic tattoo artist needs: infection control, skin anatomy and Fitzpatrick skin types, consultation, consent, contraindications and the safe use of numbing agents. You'll learn colour theory, brow pigments and undertones, your machine and needle configurations, and correct depth and stretching. You'll then build your brow techniques in order: brow mapping and design, powder shading, then nano strokes, learning hair-stroke patterns and direction, stroke spacing and how to create realistic texture. Finally, you'll learn to combine the two into combo brows and choose the right technique for each client's skin type and brow goals.
Model work is at the heart of this course. Rather than bundling in a kit, we put your investment into hands-on time. You'll watch your lecturer work on a demonstration model and practise alongside them, then complete 4 full brow procedures on your own live models across powder, nano and combo techniques under close guidance.
Because great cosmetic tattooing is judged on the healed result, we cover healing in depth: each stage of the healing process, how powder and strokes heal differently on each skin type, aftercare methods, how to tell normal healing from infection or a reaction, and what affects pigment retention. We also cover the perfecting session, troubleshooting and corrections, and how to photograph your work.
